"Data assimilation" = Integration of numerical simulation model and enormous data
Data assimilation is a procedure which combines observations with a numerical simulation model. This procedure allows us to improve the initial conditions and boundary conditions of the simulation models and to achieve a reliable estimate of temporal evolution of a system.
Our group conducts research and development of data assimilation techniques such as the ensemble Kalman filter and the particle filter and applies them to a variety of research fields.
